Browsers – Allow Unsecure Content (Chrome/Firefox/IE)

Unblock Content Being Restricted by Google Chrome.

Issue: If you click a link and are not seeing any content, page remains blank/big white box, it is likely that the content is unsecure meaning is includes http:// at the beginning of the URL address. Your browser’s security may not be allowing this content to be viewable in your course.

Resolution:

1. Locate the shield icon , on the right side of the address bar indicating that the browser has temporarily blocked the content.
2. Override the alert by clicking the “Load Anyway” option, giving your browser permission to run the secure content. You will only have to do this once to unblock functionality for future visits to the site.

Unblock Content Being Restricted by FireFox.

Issue: If you click a link and are not seeing any content, page remains blank/big white box, it is likely that the content is unsecure meaning is includes http:// at the beginning of the URL address. Your browser’s security may not be allowing this content to be viewable in your course.

Resolution: If you are seeing a shield icon appearing in the address bar, notifying you that the browser has temporarily blocked the content complete the following steps.

1. Click the shield icon in the address bar

1.  Select Disable Protection on This Page from the drop-down menu.

2. Note that the shield icon in the address bar will change to an orange warning triangle when you disable the protection.These serve as a reminder that insecure content is being displayed.
3. To revert the settings and block original content, navigate to the web page in a new tab or window.


Unblock Content Being Restricted by Internet Explorer.

Issue: If you click a link and are not seeing any content, page remains blank/big white box, it is likely that the content is unsecure meaning is includes http:// at the beginning of the URL address. Your browser’s security may not be allowing this content to be viewable in your course.

Resolution:

  • Locate the Internet Options category from your setting menu.
  • Choose Restricted Sites icon from the Security tab. Then, click the Sites button.
  • Choose which sites you want to unblock.
